The 2008 Regional Livability Summit was a great success!

Thank you for joining us!

On May 28th, 2008 over 300 people gathered and helped to create an agenda for true sustainability in the metro area – one that harnesses our desire for positive change, recognizes our interconnectedness, aspires toward equality and inclusion, and lives up to the promise of our people and our place. Keynote speaker, Maya Wiley's keynote address was inspiring, instructive and helped guide the day's work. The proceedings and additional details from the day will be available soon so please check back.

Take Action for a Climate Smart Columbia River Crossing Project Now!

What's the Columbia River Crossing Project?

It's the biggest public works project in our region's history. Projected to cost at whopping $4.2 billion or more, the CRC aims to rebuild and widen the I-5 bridges spanning the Columbia River.

Unfortunately, all current options being considered for the project will significantly increase global warming pollution, harm people’s health, and undermine our region’s vision of a sustainable economy, all while siphoning $4.2 billion of limited public resources from addressing other critical transportation needs.

Sound off for Equity! - New Online Forums for Regional Equity

Haven't been able to make it to one of CLF's Regional Equity Atlas Solutions Workshops, but have some great ideas?

Contribute your stories and ideas to help inform CLF's Equity Action Agenda by visiting our brand new online Regional Equity Feedback Forum. Click the "Feedback Forum" link at www.equityatlas.org and fire off your ideas, stories, and feedback in response to the questions we've posed.

The Regional Equity Atlas maps equity conditions in the greater metropolitan region. By measuring access to opportunities like affordable housing, transit, parks and grocery stores, the Atlas illustrates which people and places have the best access and which ones have the worst access to these important assets. Visit www.equityatlas.org to view sample maps and learn more about the Equity Atlas.

Shift the Balance is our current campaign to influence two big transportation decisions: The big plan--Metro's Regional Transportation Plan Update which will determine how our region will spend at least $4.2 billion on transportation projects over the next 20 years. And, the big project--The Columbia River Crossing Project, which is looking at rebuilding the I-5 bridges across the Columbia River.

Learn more about regional transportation issues and how we're trying to shift the balance towards a more sustainable and equitable transportation system.
