Document Actions

It depends on what kind of vehicle they take!

The City of Muenster, Germany produced the visual analysis above to illustrate the space required to transport 72 people by bicycle, car, and bus.

- Bicycle: 72 people can be transported on 72 bicycles, which requires 90 square meters.

- Car: Based on the average occupancy of 1.2 people per car, 60 cars are needed to transport 72 people, which requires 1,000 square meters.

- Bus: 72 people can be transported on 1 bus, which requires only 30 square meters and no permanent parking space, since it can be parked elsewhere.

Note: 72 people can be transported on less than 1/4 of one MAX train.  Each MAX train requires 146 square meters and also needs no permanent parking space.
