Equity Atlas Featured at National Conferences
Planners, activists, and academics nationwide learn about the Coalition's cutting-edge work.
John Provo, formerly of Portland State University School of Urban
Planning and now teaching at Virginia Tech, presented a paper,
“Building a Regional Coalition for Equity: Linking Community Activists
and Regional Analysis in Portland, Oregon” at the Community Development Society’s 37th Annual Conference in June. CLF's Executive Director, Jill Fuglister co-authored the paper, which presents a framework for equity in theory and practice. It highlights progress on CLF's Portland Regional Equity Atlas, which involves activists, academics, and governments in spatial analysis of a variety of indicators of equity, and presents a history of CLF’s work on regional affordable housing policy.
Provo will bring another version of this work to the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning Conference in Kansas City next October.
